Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 28, 2026
Arena Lords is a free fantasy auto-battler browser game, currently in open beta. It can be played directly on the web at playarenalords.com, or as a Discord Activity launched inside Discord using Discord's Embedded App SDK. This policy explains exactly what data the game handles in each case, who hosts it, how long it is kept, and how to reach us. It is written by the Arena Lords team.
We have deliberately kept data collection minimal. In short: when you play on the open web, the game runs entirely in your browser and we keep no game data about you on our own servers (aside from the standard hosting request logs described under Hosting below). When you play inside Discord, the game reads a small amount of your Discord profile — only with your consent — to show your name and avatar and to sign you in, and we still do not keep a database of users.
Playing on the web
When you play Arena Lords on the open web, there is no account and no login. We do not ask for your name, email, or any other personal details.
Your game progress — your current run and a small "intro seen" flag — is saved only in your own
browser's localStorage, on your own device. This data never leaves your device and is not
transmitted to us. We cannot read it, and it is not synced between devices.
You can erase this local progress at any time by clearing the site's data in your browser (clearing site storage or browsing data for playarenalords.com).
Playing as a Discord Activity
When the game is launched inside Discord, it runs as a Discord Activity through Discord's Embedded App SDK. To show you in the game and to sign you in for the session, the game asks Discord for a small part of your profile. This happens only after you consent on Discord's own OAuth authorization screen.
With your consent, the game reads the following from your Discord account:
- Your Discord user ID
- Your username / display name
- Your avatar
This information is used for two purposes only:
- To display your name and avatar inside the game.
- To authenticate your play session.
Minimal Discord permissions
We request the smallest set of Discord scopes needed to run the Activity:
identify (to read the basic profile described above) and
rpc.activities.write (to set your "Playing Arena Lords" presence in Discord).
We do not request or read your Discord messages, your email address, or your friends list, and we do not access any other parts of your Discord account.
How sign-in works on our side
During Discord sign-in, Discord provides a short-lived authorization code. Our own serverless endpoint
(/api/token), which holds the Discord client secret, exchanges that code for an access
token. That access token is used transiently, in memory, to complete the authentication request — it is
not stored or persisted by us.
Hosting
The game and its serverless endpoints are hosted on Vercel, a third-party hosting provider. As part of delivering and securing any website, Vercel processes standard request information such as your IP address and browser type. This processing is carried out by Vercel under its own privacy practices. We do not build user profiles from this information.
Cookies, analytics, and tracking
Arena Lords does not use third-party analytics or advertising trackers at this time, and it does not use
tracking cookies. The browser localStorage described above is used purely to save your own
game progress on your own device, not to track you. If we add analytics in the future, we will update
this policy first.
Data retention and deletion
Because our application keeps no persistent user data of its own — no accounts and no user profiles — there is no stored profile for us to retain or delete. (Standard hosting request logs are handled by our host; see Hosting above.)
- Local progress: stored only in your browser. You can delete it yourself at any time by clearing the site's data in your browser.
- Discord profile data: read only with your consent and handled transiently; it is not saved on our servers. Your Discord account and its data remain under your control within Discord.
- Requests: if you have a question, or a privacy or data-deletion request, contact us at privacy@playarenalords.com and we will respond.
Children
Arena Lords is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal data, please contact us at privacy@playarenalords.com and we will take appropriate steps.
Discord integration
Arena Lords integrates with Discord to run as an Activity. When you use the game inside Discord, your use of Discord is also subject to Discord's own Terms of Service and Privacy Policy, which govern your Discord account and the data Discord holds about you.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy as the game evolves during open beta, or if our data practices change. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date above. Continued play after an update means you accept the revised policy.
